EDMONTON, AB—MAY 21, 2025—A compact but competitive group of six fillies and mares will line up Saturday at Century Mile Racetrack for the $20,000 (CAN) CTM Princess Stakes, with Miss Fancy Nancy installed as the 9-5 morning-line favorite for the 350-yard sprint restricted to older Quarter Horse females.

The race is scheduled as the opener on the May 24 program with a post time of 4:45 p.m. MDT.

Miss Fancy Nancy, a 4-year-old Alberta-bred mare by Big Lew out of Singles Cruise by Favorite Cartel, enters in strong form after a narrow second-place finish in the Fired Stakes on May 10.

Trained by Misael Moreno for breeders and owners Barry and Janice Sather, she captured last year’s Alberta Bred Derby and has consistently hit the board in stakes company, with 11 top-three finishes from 16 career starts. With two victories and four placings from nine appearances at Century Mile, she will break from post three on Saturday.

Not Easy Being Me, listed at 4-1, brings back-to-back wins into the race for owner-trainer Tom Kenway. The grey 4-year-old mare is an Alberta-bred by Bd Cruiser out of Eye Cruise by Eye Take Time. She concluded her 2024 season with an allowance win at 400 yards and has shown steady improvement, making her a legitimate threat in her return to stakes action.

Pretty Sweet Jess, the 3-1 third choice on the morning line, is a 4-year-old California-bred mare by One Sweet Jess out of Pretty Lethal by First Down Dash. Bred by Veronica Gail Kawananakoa, she won four stakes in 2024, including the CTM Horsemen’s Derby and Canadian Cup Derby, and has compiled eight wins from 12 starts overall. Trained by William H. Leech for owner Jerry Stojan, she is looking to rebound after a troubled fourth-place finish earlier this month.

Also in the field is Ms Clara (5-1), a consistent 5-year-old who finished third in this race last year. She brings a mix of tactical speed and staying power for trainer Harold Wippert Jr., who also saddles longshot She Wears the Pantz (10-1), a 6-year-old with multiple stakes placings to her name.

Fabulous Show Off (8-1) is the lone 3-year-old in the field and the least experienced entrant. The daughter of One Fabulous Eagle broke her maiden last summer and will face older rivals for the first time in her fourth career start.

The CTM Princess Stakes marks the first stakes contest of the new season for Alberta’s older Quarter Horse females, offering an early opportunity for divisional bragging rights heading into the heart of the summer schedule.
