EDMONTON, ALB–MAY 15, 2025–Stablemates Team Rip 109 (9-5) and Sizzles Boss (2-1) will face off in the $21,400 (CAN) Horsemen's Division 1 Derby on Saturday at Century Mile Racetrack, featuring a distance of 350 yards and seven starters. This race is open to Quarter Horses aged 3 years old.
The 9-5 post-time favorite is Team Rip 109 a chestnut gelding by multiple stakes sire Pyc Fun N Fancy, out of See Me Do It Too by Favorite Cartel.
Undefeated as a stakes winner in two starts in 2024, Team Rip 109 is the John Deere Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes winner and has earnings of $26,214.
Commotion Creek Contracting Ltd. owns Team Rip 109, who is trained by Buckey Stockwell, with jockey Ricardo Moreno riding from post position 4.
The second favorite is his stablemate Sizzles Boss, a stakes-winning son of Jd Wagon Boss, out of the mare Northfork Sizzle, who is a daughter of Sizzlin Red Corona.
Also trained by Stockwell, Sizzles Boss is owned by Cinch Up Syndicate and is the restricted Grade 3 Alberta Bred Futurity winner, with total earnings of $48,178. Jockey Alfredo T. Amador will ride him from post position 6.
