Jr Sakes Alive Heads Strong Field In Wyoming Oaks at Energy Downs Friday

GILLETTE, WY–MAY 15, 2025–Mark your calendars for Friday, May 16, as the Wyoming Oaks will take place at Energy Downs. This prestigious race will feature 10 talented Quarter Horse fillies aged three years and older, competing for a purse of $27,500 over a distance of 350 yards.

Leading the competition is the 7-2 morning-line favorite is multiple stakes winner Jr Sakes Alive (7-2), a 4-year-old mare sired by Pappasito, with earnings of $114,090 and an impressive record of stakes victories.  She races for owner CG Racing LLC.

Under the tutelage of trainer Kylie Valenzuela and ridden by jockey Tyson Lusk, she will start from post-position 2. J R Stables bred last year's Wyoming Derby winner in Nevada from the One Famous Eagle mare JR Mahalia.

Challenging her is the noteworthy second favorite, Rayshas Pink Cartel, a 5-year-old stakes-placed Favorite Cartel mare trained by David W. Greene. With career earnings of $29,833 and a strong performance as runner-up in the Governors Handicap in her last start, September 24, 2024, at Sweetwater Downs.

Owned by Hemsley Ranch, she is from the Dominyun mare Rayshas Pink Sky. Jockey Jesus Virgen will guide Rayshas Pink Cartel from post 9.

The Wyoming Oaks promises to be an exhilarating event, showcasing elite Quarter Horse talent. Participants and spectators are encouraged to engage and experience the excitement at Energy Downs. The first post on the eight-race card is 4:00 pm (MDT). The Wyoming Oaks will be contested as Race 5 with an estimated post of 5:28 p.m.
