O Seeyalater Earns Berth in AQHA Challenge Championship With Century Mile Victory

EDMONTON, AB—AUGUST 22, 2025—O Seeyalater, a five-year-old brown mare by First Timber out of Howdoyado, by Pappasito, fought off a determined challenge late to capture the $46,395(US) AQHA Century Mile Championship Challenge on Friday afternoon at Century Mile Racetrack.

Breaking sharply under jockey Daniel Garcia, O Seeyalater quickly gained the lead and never relinquished it, stopping the timer in 21.589 seconds for the 440 yards and earning a 97 speed index. The mare’s victory came under clear skies and on a fast track with calm winds, rewarding her connections with the winner’s share of $22,270(US).

Bred in Oklahoma by Wesley T. Oulton, O Seeyalater is owned by Jeffrey R. W. Rath and trained by Wesley Oulton. Purchased for $12,000 at the 2021 AQHRA Yearling Sale, the mare secured a significant payday and punched her ticket to the $350,000-est. AQHA Challenge Championship (G1) will be contested on October 18 at The Downs at Albuquerque. 

A multiple stakes winner, O Seeyalater has won seven of 24 career starts and earned $131,046.

Fired, a four-year-old gelding by Fly Thru The Fire out of Ruths Chris, by Separatist, finished a game second after stalking the pace throughout. Bred in California by Steve D. Burns, DVM, Fired races for owner Jerry Stojan and is trained by William Leech. Ridden by Alexander Marti, Fired earned $9,511(US) for his runner-up performance. Also a multiple stakes winner, Fired has earned $79,567 in 16 starts.

Miss Fancy Nancy, a four-year-old brown filly by Big Lew out of Singles Cruise, by Favorite Cartel, rallied late to take third after being bumped at the start. Bred in Alberta by Barry and Janice Sather, the filly raced for her breeders under the care of trainer Misael Moreno, and Neville Stephenson rode them. Miss Fancy Nancy collected $4,639(US) for her effort. The filly entered today's race off back-to-back wins in the CTM Spring Stakes and the CTM Princess Stakes and has earned $89,185.

O Seeyalater returned $23.10 to win, $4.90 to place, and $3.90 to show. Fired paid $5.60 to place and $4.70 to show, while Miss Fancy Nancy returned $3.30 to show.

Completing the order of finish were Rtm Ginsburg in fifth, Pretty Sweet Jess in sixth, Rtm My Turn in seventh, and Krash On Okey in eighth.

With this victory, O Seeyalater solidified her status as one of the top older mares in the region and earned the opportunity to compete against the nation’s best Quarter Horses in the upcoming AQHA Challenge Championship at Albuquerque on October 18.
