Bossy Cartel Holds Safe In $42,272 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity

EDMONTON, AB–AUGUST 15, 2026–Fourth-fastest qualifier Bossy Cartel and jockey Alexander Marti captured the $42,272 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Century Mile on Saturday.

Bossy Cartel went to the front early and held safely to win the 330-yard final by one length. The gelding stopped the clock in :17.038, earning a 93 speed index over a fast track.

William Leech trains Bossy Cartel for owner-breeder Jerry Stojan. The Alberta-bred gelding is by Jd Wagon Boss and out of the Favorite Cartel mare Moonly Miss.

Bossy Cartel entered the July 31 trials following a victory in the Sale Stakes Futurity. With Saturday's $19,022 winner's share, he improved his record to 4-3-0-1 and boosted his earnings to $37,546. The race carried a total purse of $42,272.

Third-fastest qualifier Rooters Wagon surged late to finish second under O. Hernandez. The gelding is a homebred for Glenn Wills and is trained by Buckey Stockwell. He is also by Jd Wagon Boss and is out of the Sizzlin Red Corona mare Bitterroot Corona.

Rooters Wagon has finished second in each of his four career starts and has earned $24,215. His previous runner-up efforts include the Sale Stakes Futurity and Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes.

Fastest qualifier The Friendly Fire finished third under Ricardo Moreno after being crowded leaving the gate. The gelding races for Jerry Stojan and trainer William Leech and was bred by Charles Stojan. He is by Cerveza Corona and out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Getit Hot.

The Friendly Fire was making just his second career start after winning his July 31 trial and has earned $8,856.

Streakin Snow Wagon finished fourth, followed by First Flash The Moon, Babes Wagon, Jb Fames Easy Effort and Cw Kacy Six.
