Wacky Wednesday delivered a commanding performance Sunday afternoon to capture the $27,600 Oneida County Quarter Horse Futurity at the Oneida County Fair.

MALAD CITY, ID–AUGUST 9, 2026–Wacky Wednesday delivered a commanding performance Sunday afternoon to capture the $27,600 Oneida County Quarter Horse Futurity at the Oneida County Fair.

Ridden by Oscar Villa, Wacky Wednesday broke on top and quickly took command of the 300-yard event. The sorrel colt drew away from the field to win by 3 1/4 lengths, stopping the clock in :15.236 for a 105 speed index over a fast track. Yr Maple James followed the winner throughout to secure second.

Trained by Abelardo Gonzalez, Wacky Wednesday is a homebred for owner and breeder LG Racing LLC. The Utah-bred colt is sired by Apollitical Blood and out of the Sir Runaway Dash mare Runaway Witch.

Marking his first stakes victory, Wacky Wednesday improved his record to 6-4-1-1. The $11,040 winner's share of the purse boosted his career earnings to $24,380. He entered the race with stakes experience after finishing second in the Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity and third in the Pocatello Downs Spring Futurity.

Crossing the wire second was Yr Maple James under jockey Fernando Olague. The Weston Smith trainee followed the leader throughout and completed the distance in :15.741 for an 87 speed index.

A homebred for Wesley Pierson, Yr Maple James is sired by Ivory James and out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Lucys Fame. The filly now owns a record of 5-2-1-1 with $11,649 in earnings. She was a finalist in the Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity earlier this season.

Jessies Jazz Girl initially crossed the wire third but was disqualified and placed eighth after drifting in throughout the race. The disqualification elevated Louisianas Best and jockey Raphael Romero to third.

Owned and trained by Alex Romero, Louisianas Best was bred by David Romero-Tapia. The filly is sired by Louisiana Jambalaya and out of the Dale Badon mare La Chorida. She now has a record of 5-1-0-1 with $7,520 in earnings and won the Idaho Cup Futurity Consolation earlier this season.

Cyberx was elevated to fourth, followed by Am Sweet Dash, Haileys Runaway, Hr Trainsamovin and Jessies Jazz Girl.

The race was contested in clear, 94-degree weather with a 15 mph crosswind.
