POCATELLO, ID–MAY 25, 2026– Miss Royal Hawk and jockey Minor Arana upset the field in the $38,900 Pocatello Downs Spring Classic Futurity Finals on Sunday afternoon, sprinting 300 yards in :15.746 seconds for a 91 speed index.
The filly broke sharply from the gate and held off the favored YR Bruno to remain undefeated in two career starts.
A homebred for owner and breeder Ismael Villarreal, the sorrel filly is trained by Jose Rosales Gomez. Miss Royal Hawk is sired by The Cartel Hawk and out of the winning Royal Shake Em mare Miss Royal Rumble.
The victory boosted her earnings to $18,794 after collecting the $17,894 winner’s share of the purse. She entered the futurity finals as the second-fastest qualifier from the May 3 trials.
YR Bruno and jockey Luis Cruz Ruiz finished second after a game effort throughout. Owned and bred by Wesley Pierson and trained by Weston Smith, the gelding was the fastest qualifier heading into the finals.
Sired by Ivory James and out of the Dash Ta Fame mare R Brown Sugar, YR Bruno was making just his second career start while earning a 91 speed index with a time of :15.757 seconds.
Wacky Wednesday and jockey Cesar Moreno rallied late to finish third for breeder and owner LG Racing LLC and trainer Luis Gonzalez.
The colt is by Apollitical Blood and out of the Sir Runaway Dash mare Runaway Witch. Wacky Wednesday earned an 84 speed index after stopping the timer in :15.966 seconds in his second lifetime start.
One Fast S crossed the wire fourth but was disqualified and placed tenth for bearing in at the start. All Gussyed Up was moved up to fourth and was followed by Haileys Runaway, Villa Cartel, KVN Popped Off, Mr Flaming Dash, Monster Amigo, and One Fast S.
