Flight Club Sets Track Record In Old Timers Classic Victory

EDMONTON, AB–May 9, 2026—Veteran distance specialist Flight Club added another stakes victory to his decorated résumé Saturday night at Century Mile, capturing the $15,355 Old Timers Classic and setting a new track record in the process.

Ridden by Alexander Marti, Flight Club stopped the clock in :15.380 for a 105 speed index over 300 yards, eclipsing the previous track mark of :15.392 set by Fired in 2025.

The gray gelding was bred by Steve D. Burns DVM and is owned by Jerry Stojan, trained by William Leech. The victory marked his fourth consecutive win and his third straight stakes triumph following victories in the Century Downs Distance Stakes and Century Downs Distance #3 Stakes.

A model of consistency throughout his career, Flight Club has now won 22 of 33 lifetime starts, including an impressive 18 stakes victories. The son of Foose out of the winning Separatist mare Seperate Flight is also a half-brother to stakes winner Dassault ($97,781).

The $15,355 winner’s share of the purse boosted Flight Club’s lifetime bankroll to $245,856. He was also a $19,000 graduate of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale.

Equibase chart notes described the performance simply: “class showed and finished in record time.”

Miss Fancy Nancy finished second under Daniel Tavares for owners and breeders Barry and Janice Sather and trainer Misael Moreno. The five-year-old mare entered the race off back-to-back stakes victories in the Century Downs Aged Invitational Stakes and the Century Downs Cup Classic Maturity Stakes.

The daughter of Big Lew out of the stakes-winning Favorite Cartel mare Singles Cruise now owns a career record of 22-8-7-2 with earnings of $109,278. In addition to her recent form, Miss Fancy Nancy has captured five career stakes victories.

Third-place finisher Team Rip 109 was ridden by Josh Scott for owners Commotion Creek Contracting and WT Ranches Ltd. and trainer Buckey Stockwell.

The four-year-old gelding is a $17,500 AQHRA Yearling Sale graduate and is sired by PYC Fun N Fancy out of the winning Favorite Cartel mare See Me Do It Too. Team Rip 109 now sports a career record of 6-2-1-1 with earnings of $33,744 and previously won the Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes.

Fired finished fourth and was followed by Flash Me A Corona.
