Hendry breaks sharply under jockey Oscar Andrade Jr. and pulls clear late to win the $100,000 West Texas Juvenile at Sunland Park, remaining undefeated in two starts.

Hendry Wins $100,000 West Texas Juvenile at Sunland Park

SUNLAND PARK, NM–APRIL 4, 2026–Hendry converted his fastest qualifying effort into a stakes victory, winning the $100,000 West Texas Juvenile on April 4 at Sunland Park, covering 300 yards in :15.170 seconds over a fast track.

Ridden by Oscar Andrade Jr., the gelding vied early, dueled past mid-stretch, and shook free late to prove best. The victory was worth $47,000.

Owned by Tungsten Racing Partnership and trained by Tony Sedillo, Hendry was bred by MJ Farms. The gray gelding is sired by champion FDD Dynasty and is out of the Big Daddy Cartel mare Fanncee, a stakes placed runner.

A $165,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, Hendry comes from a strong female family. His dam is a full sister to stakes winner Wente ($149,779) and a half-sister to champion Asscher ($489,674). The pedigree also includes champions Astica ($411,623) and Alice K White ($276,837).

Making just his second career start, Hendry now has one win and one second with earnings of $48,780.

Runner-up Flying Cowboys Candy broke well and showed speed, dueling to deep stretch before being outfinished late, holding second. Ridden by Luis Martinez, the gelding races for CHR Racing and is trained by Tony Sedillo.

Bred by PV Quarter Horse Farms LLC, he is a $39,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate. He is sired by champion Flying Cowboy 123 and is out of the Cartels Candy Man mare Candy Cartels Candy, a half-sister to champion and All American Futurity (G1) winner Jess Good Candy ($2,014,703). From two starts, he has earnings of $18,890.

Promising finished third after chasing to mid-stretch and closing well late . Ridden by Jose Ortiz, the gelding races for Tungsten Racing Partnership, Ronald Sugamosto, and Louise Sugamosto, and is trained by Eric Valenzuela.

The second-fastest qualifier from the March 13 trials, Promising is sired by champion Golden Boi and is out of the Kiddy Up mare Seems Up, a full sister to stakes winners She Goes Up ($219,647) and Set For It ($77,505). Bred by Edward Allred, he now has earnings of $16,340 from two starts.

Bandido 123 finished fourth, followed by Sixes Candy, Metal Potion T, D Inseperable D, Sheza Hot Lil Hock, Cowboys First Gin, and Prissteen.
