SELMA, TX–APRIL 1, 2026– Retama Park conducted another session of schooling races on April 1, offering horsemen a final look at their young stock ahead of the upcoming 2026 Quarter Horse racing season.

A total of 62 juveniles competed across 10 races, all contested at 250 yards under non-pari-mutuel conditions. The schooling races provide an early opportunity for two-year-olds to gain gate experience and prepare for official competition.

Hold On Tight posted the fastest time of the day, stopping the clock in :13.79 seconds while winning the fourth race. The filly is owned by Francisco Urteaga, trained by Jose Sanchez III, and was ridden by Luis Vivanco.

A $60,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, she is sired by champion Apollitical Blood, whose progeny have earned more than $19 million, and is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Runawa Renee. She is from a strong female line that includes stakes placed runner Jess On The Run ($153,983) and graded stakes winner Juice Is Loose ($197,510).

The second dam, Miss Southern DD ($68,630), is a stakes winner and full sister to stakes winners Ms Southern Dynasty ($90,028) and A Priceless Dash ($52,766).

County Time recorded the second-fastest time of the day, clocking :13.80 seconds while winning the first race. The gelding is owned by Eduardo Fernandez, trained by J. Martinez, and was ridden by O. Martinez.

A $17,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, he is sired by world champion Freighttrain B and is out of the One Famous Eagle mare Famous Favorite. The female family includes stakes winner Shelbys Surprise ($58,927) and champion As And Js ($531,134).

Singles Famous Eagle posted the third-fastest time, winning the ninth race. The filly is owned by Zanne Kiehne and trained by John Stinebaugh. She is a $40,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate and is sired by world champion One Famous Eagle out of the Favorite Cartel mare Singles Cruise, a graded stakes winner. She is a half-sister to stakes winner Miss Fancy Nancy ($105,286).
