Ronda Rowsey Prevails in the $62,575 Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park

AURORA, CO—NOVEMBER 16, 2025—Ronda Rowsey proved once again she is one of Colorado’s top juvenile sprinters as she captured Sunday’s $62,575 Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park, powering through a 10 mph headwind to win the 400-yard final in 20.043, earning a 93 speed index.

Breaking sharply under jockey Mauro Rodriguez, the brown filly held gamely to the wire and added $25,030 to her earnings for owner-breeder George L. Seward.

The daughter of Favorite Cartel, out of the Apollitical Jess mare Ms Jess Knockout, is trained by Fernando Manriquez and also won the Cherry Creek Futurity in October. She was a $50,000 repurchase at the 2024 Heritage Place Yearling Sale and has earned  $61,514.

Rc Juliet closed strongly to finish second, overcoming a bump at the break before surging late under jockey Jose Garcia-Segura for owner Anthony Ruiz. The sorrel filly by The Fiscal Cliff, out of Ms Otoole by Stoli, earned $12,515 for the runner-up effort and is trained by Abraham Felix.

Bred by R C Running Horses in Texas, she was purchased for $7,500 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale. A winner of two of four career starts, she has earned $19,925.

Sunshining, a bay filly by second-crop sire Mpshinning out of Little Talks by Favorite Cartel, finished third after breaking between rivals and keeping on steadily under jockey Jose Olivo for Celenes’s Racing LLC.

Trained by Chris Gandarilla and bred in California by Steve D. Burns, DVM, she earned $7,509 for her effort. Sunshining was a $38,000 purchase from the 2024 Los Alamitos Equine Sale. A winner of two of three starts, Sunshining has earned $16,389

Pari-mutuel returns reflected the competitiveness of the field, with Ronda Rowsey paying $6.20 to win, $8.40 to place, and $2.80 to show; Rc Juliet returning $6.80 to place and $2.40 to show; and Sunshining paying $3.40 to show.

The $2 exacta returned $62.60, the $2 quinella paid $95.60, the trifecta returned $95.20, and the superfecta paid $231.00.
