Tuckers Prize Scores 20th Career Win in $20,000 EVD Dash Stakes

OPELOUSAS, LA–OCTOBER 4, 2025–Proving that class and experience never fade, Tuckers Prize added another impressive line to his resume by scoring his 20th career victory in Saturday night’s $20,000 EVD Dash Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

Ridden by Ubaldo Luna, the 9-year-old gelding stopped the clock in 13.222 seconds for 250 yards, earning a 97 speed index. The effort rewarded backers with $10.20 to win at 4-1 odds.

The consistent Louisiana-bred runner, owned and trained by Preston Jourdan, earned $12,000 from the purse to increase his career bankroll to $418,190.

A proven competitor on the Louisiana racing circuit, Tuckers Prize has compiled an outstanding record of 59 starts, 20 wins, 14 seconds, and 8 thirds. This weekend’s win marked his first stakes score since 2019 and only his second overall, following his victory in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby-G3.

His list of black type finishes also includes second or third-place efforts in the Louisiana Classic Stakes-G2 (twice), Open Me A Corona Stakes-G2, Opelousas Stakes-G2, Louisiana Classic Stakes-G2, Louisiana Champions Day QH Classic-G2, Flying Breed Stakes, Mid City Stakes-G3, and Lakeview Dash Stakes.

Bred by Kirby and Phillip Bruchhaus, Tuckers Prize was a $2,700 repurchase at the 2017 LQHBA Yearling Sale. He is a son of Fast Prize Dash out of Bb Secrets Game, by Game Patriot.

Finishing second was Venus Tlc, who is trained by Jose Espinosa and was ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez. The Louisiana Cartel filly covered the distance in 13.318 seconds, posting a 93 speed index and collecting $4,000 for the effort.

Venus Tlc was a $10,000 purchase at the 2022 LQHBA Yearling Sale and now boasts a record of 23 starts, 4 wins, 7 seconds, and 4 thirds with $90,687 in earnings. This is her fourth black type finish of the year, having also placed second in the Lakeview Dash Stakes and third in both the Delta Dash Stakes and Winners Circle Church Stakes.

Jorge Haddad and Jorge Haddad Mestre bred and own the 4-year-old filly out of Pamplonna by First Moonflash.

Third-place finisher India De La Nieve, a 4-year-old gray filly by Bp Wagon Train, is out of Chita Deniebe by First Streakin Lee. She was bred by Jose Vera and Claudia Sanchez and races for Rene Rodriguez.

Trained by Luis Martinez, Jr. and ridden by Victor Miranda, India De La Nieve completed the race in 13.415 seconds with an 89 speed index, earning $2,200 for her effort.

From 23 starts, she has 5 wins, 4 seconds, and 8 thirds, and $135,267 in career earnings. A consistent stakes competitor, India De La Nieve is a 10-time stakes finalist and earlier this year placed second in the Delta Dash Stakes and third in the French Quarters Stakes.

Uuzzii, El Capi, Ll Eysa Jess Carter, Mark 536, Im Moms Favorite, and Konnan Cartel round out the order of finish.
