Love Kiss J Lee Holds Off Late Challenge in Sweetwater Downs Maturity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 7, 2025–Love Kiss J Lee left the gates first and led the entire 400 yards for a wire-to-wire victory in Sunday’s $101,450 Sweetwater Downs Quarter Horse Maturity.

The six-year-old gelding stopped the clock in 19.424 seconds with a 107 speed index, just missing the 2017 track record of 19.411 set by Movin The Doe. Love Kiss J Lee’s determined effort under jockey Cesar Moreno held off a late rally by Just A Flyin Cowgirl, winning by a neck, with Jkh Almost A Dynasty another half-length back in third.

The Glade Van Tassell trainee has now started 28 times, recording nine wins, five seconds, and a third for earnings of $105,417 after cashing in the $40,580 winner’s share of the purse. This was his second career stakes score, adding to last year’s Governor’s Handicap.

Earlier this season, he placed second in the Ron Moosman Memorial Stakes at Energy Downs and was also a finalist in the Energy Downs Maturity. Among his many accolades, Love Kiss J Lee also holds the 300-yard track record, scoring a 113 speed index in 15.139 seconds at Sweetwater Downs in 2023.

Bred and owned in Utah by Melody Olsen, son of Kiss My Hocks is out of the Favorite Cartel mare Love That Look.

Runner-up Just A Flyin Cowgirl, a four-year-old filly by Flying Cowboy 123, is out of Just Another Natural by Furyofthewind. Bred in Texas by T.C. Flack, she races for McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC and is trained by Joe Davis.

Ridden by David Alvarez Jr., Just A Flyin Cowgirl has compiled a record of 14 starts with five wins, five seconds, and two thirds, earning $104,122. Her victories include last month’s Raysha’s Run – Racing For A Cure Stakes at Wyoming Downs, and she also finished second in the Energy Downs Maturity in June.

Third-place finisher Jkh Almost A Dynasty was bred in Wyoming by Gordon Knudsen out of Almost Early by Favorite Cartel. She races for UDM Investments LLC under the care of trainer Calli Dominguez.

With Gerardo Vera in the irons, Jkh Almost A Dynasty crossed the wire just a half-length behind the runner-up. From 20 career starts, the four-year-old filly by Jr Dynasty Mountain has earned $108,916 with a record of six wins, two seconds, and five thirds. Earlier this season, she won the Energy Downs 307 F&M Stakes, placed third in the Ron Moosman Wyoming Bred Maturity, and was also a finalist in Raysha’s Run – Racing For A Cure Stakes.

Following the top three finishers were Imaginacion in fourth, Rlh Fouronthefloor in fifth, Cowboyhatbygucci sixth, Tempting Cowboy seventh, Open Soon eighth, and Dads Racy Te ninth.
