FREDERICKSBURG, TX—AUGUST 24, 2025—Beaux Tye surged powerfully in the final strides to capture the $130,400 Gillespie County Fair Derby on Sunday afternoon at Gillespie County Fairground, defeating a competitive field of three-year-old Quarter Horses at 350 yards.

Ridden by champion jockey Francisco Calderon and trained by Carlos Camarena, the brown gelding stopped the timer in 17.565 seconds on a fast track with a crosswind of 5 mph, earning an impressive 97 speed index.

The win awarded the son of leading sire Favorite Cartel, out of Fast N Fancy by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, a winner’s check of $46,640 for owners Triple Five. Bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, Beaux Tye demonstrated a strong closing kick after tracking the early pace, drawing clear in the final yards for a half-length victory.

A finalist in the Sam Houston Derby(G3) earlier this season, Beaux Tye has won three of 11 starts and earned $80,038.

Razor Hawk Cartel finished second after a determined stretch drive under jockey Victor Urieta Jr. The bay gelding by leading sire Corona Cartel out of And Poof Shes Gone by Stoli, bred in Arkansas by Belinda Shaw, is owned by Angelica Brizuela and trained by Heber Deyta-Melendez.

Razor Hawk Cartel, a $35,000 purchase from the 2025 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, earned $19,560 for his runner-up finish to boost his bankroll to $81,678.

Close behind in third was Kas Prietito, who finished just a head back after a tenacious bid. Fernando Soto and Rolando Soto own the Texas-bred gelding by Kas Tempting out of Marys Corazon by Azoom.

Trained by Roberto G. Madrigal and ridden by Adrian Morales. Kas Prietito collected $13,040 for his effort in a tight finish. He has banked $43,936 in nine career starts.

The race unfolded with Ra Coronado breaking sharply but fading late, while Beaux Tye mounted his charge mid-stretch to collar the leaders. Razor Hawk Cartel held gamely along the rail, and Kas Prietito closed strongly between rivals to secure third.

Mutuel payouts reflected the competitive nature of the race. Beaux Tye returned $12.00 to win, $12.80 to place, and $8.00 to show. Razor Hawk Cartel paid $3.40 to place and $3.20 to show, while Kas Prietito returned $8.40 to show.
