Gangster On Da Run Surges to Win Ocean Wave Futurity at Tillamook County Fair

TILLAMOOK, OR–AUGUST 8, 2025– Gangster On Da Run scored his second career win in the $10,800 Ocean Wave Futurity (not black type) on Friday at the Tillamook County Fair.

Ridden by Jake Samuels, Gangster On Da Run was bumped at the start but recovered in a late surge at the wire and won the 220-yard final in 11.731 seconds for an 85 speed index.

Owned and trained by Gilberto Madrigal, the Oregon-bred sorrel gelding prevailed by a neck and earned $5,400 for the victory. The son of Glock was bred by Ruben Magallanes out of Kr Red Hawk, by Favorite Cartel. His 2025 record now reads 2 wins from 4 starts, with $8,600 in earnings.

Ccr Sweetnseperate, the post time favorite, showed good early speed but was tagged late to finish second by a neck under jockey Jaime Lopez. Trainer Hector Magallanes saddled the brown filly for owner-breeder Cedar Creek Tree Farm Ranch and Racing.

The daughter of One Sweet Jess is out of Separate Pearl, by Seperate Interest. Ccr Sweetnseperate has yet to break her maiden but has two second-place finishes with $17,300 in earnings, including the Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass on July 4.

Samanta Royal Cartel closed in third, a neck behind the runner-up, for owner-breeder Juan Morales Garcia. Trained by Jose Rosales Gomez and ridden by Jose Guerrero, the gray filly remains a maiden. The daughter of The Cartel Hawk is out of Royal Crowning Glory, by Royal Quick Dash.

The remaining order of finish was Aspen T, Cashed Out Corona, and D N Apolitical.
