MEXICO CITY, MEX—JUNE 8, 2025–Two action-packed days of qualifying trials for the $149,120 Garanones Futurity-RG2 unfolded over the weekend at Hipodromo de las Americas, setting the stage for a highly anticipated final on June 29.

A total of 14 trials–seven each on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8 determined the ten fastest qualifiers, with the top five times from each day securing a spot in the finals.

The spotlight shone brightly on Rey De Manny, the standout of Saturday’s trials. Entered in trial four of the day, the heavily favored gelding delivered a commanding wire-to-wire performance, distancing himself from the field by an impressive three lengths. He stopped the clock in 15.074 seconds, earning a 95 speed index and securing the fastest overall qualifying time.

Breaking from post position four, Rey De Manny was piloted by jockey Nestor Duran for owner Cuadra San Martin. The two-year-old son of Krash Cartel, out of Jess Blazin Queen by Jesse James Jr, was bred by Abelardo Gallegos. Ashley Cirilo trains him.

Rey De Manny was a $43,243 graduate of the Subasta Selecta Sale and is a full brother to 2024 Mexico Futurity winner Kin Krash, also campaigned by Cuadra San Martin.

With an unblemished 3-for-3 record and earnings exceeding $58,000, Rey De Manny entered the trials off a major score in the $130,000 Mexico Futurity-RG3 on May 4, where he also clocked the fastest qualifying time.

The filly led from the break and fended off challenger Manny SR by 3/4-length, hitting the wire in 15.143 seconds for a 93 speed index—the second-fastest time of the day.

Starting from the sixth gate, Payasa De Manny went off as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. Like her stablemate, she is by Krash Cartel and was bred by Abelardo Gallegos. She is out of the Separatist mare Coconut Crystal.

Luis Cruz trains Payasa De Manny, also ridden by Nestor Duran. With a record of 2-1-1 from four starts and over $21,000 in earnings, the talented filly has already proven her class with a third-place finish in the Mexico Futurity-RG3 finals on May 4.
