GILLETTE, WY—MAY 31, 2025—Just A Flyin Cowgirl posted the fastest qualifying time from five trial heats held Saturday at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing, earning the top spot in the field for the $50,000-added Energy Downs Maturity final, set for June 14, 2025.

The 400-yard event is open to 3-year-olds and upward Quarter Horses.

Owned by McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC and trained by Joe M. Davis, the 4-year-old daughter of leading third-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123 covered the distance in :19.812, winning her trial by one length over fellow qualifier Cash 23.

Ridden by Cordarelton J. Benn, she was bred in Texas by T C Flack out of the Furyofthewind mare Just Another Natural.

Davis and Benn also teamed up with the second-fastest qualifier, Imaginacion, who posted a time of :19.894 in an earlier trial. The 4-year-old gelding by  a leading sire, Hes Relentless, out of Pollitical Scorpion by Apollitical Jess, races for The Imaginacion Partners and was bred in Oklahoma by Jahree Standridge. The $11,000 HPW Mixed Sale graduate made a powerful late run to secure his spot in the final.

Rounding out the top three is Utah-bred Love Kiss J Lee, who crossed the wire in :19.929 for owner and breeder Melody A. Olsen. Trained by Calli VanTassell Dominguez and ridden by Cesar T. Moreno, the 6-year-old gelding is a son of champion Kiss My Hocks, out of Love That Look by Favorite Cartel. The seasoned campaigner turned in a professional effort to secure his spot in the championship lineup.

The top ten fastest times from Saturday’s trials advance to the final of the Energy Downs Maturity on June 14, where a field featuring a blend of proven veterans and promising upstarts will compete for the added-money purse.
