OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 31, 2025—The spotlight was on promising juveniles Saturday night at Remington Park as Jc Speeding dominated the Grade 1 $238,200 Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, turning in a commanding wire-to-wire performance to earn the winner’s share of the purse and a 103 speed index. The speedster broke his second track record of the season for mixed breeds in the process.

Breaking sharply from post four under jockey James Flores, the 2-year-old sorrel gelding surged to the front and steadily pulled away to score by 1½ lengths, covering the 350-yard distance in :17.176 seconds over a fast track.

Trained by Dee Keener for owner Planefun LLC, Jc Speeding is a son of second-crop Quarter Horse sire Chilitos, out of High Speed Kitty by High Rate of Return.

The Oklahoma-bred gelding was bred by Richard Joneson. Winner of the $25,000 Victoria Ennis Memorial on April 25, the colt now has a perfect 4-for-4 record and banked $90,516 tonight to push his earnings mark to $119,341.

Runner-up honors went to longshot Pt Angel, who chased gamely but proved no match for the winner. Ridden by Francisco Calderon and trained by Matt Whitekiller, the black filly earned $40,494 for owner Bryan Hawk.

She was bred in Oklahoma by her owner and is sired by Painted Turnpike, out of Angel Flyin, by FDD Dynasty. Also a finalist in the Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity(G1) in March, she has banked nearly $60,000 in five starts.

Finishing third was Wired Cartel, who broke well from the outside and put in a solid effort to edge clear of the others. Also trained by Whitekiller and ridden by Cody Smith, the gelding is owned by James R. Skimbo and was bred in Oklahoma by his owner.

Wired Cartel is by leading APHA sire CRM Livewire, out of Wired Jess, by Apollitical Jess. He collected $26,202 for the effort.  Second in the Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity(G1) in March he has earned $47,138 in five starts.

The complete order of finish was: Jc Speeding, Pt Angel, Wired Cartel, Mia Chilitos, Cardiac Cowgirl, Flight Risk, Turbulent, Old Habits New Tricks, River Flower, and Painted Fury.

With his commanding performance and top speed index, Jc Speeding has established himself as a major force among Paint and Appaloosa runners in Oklahoma this season.
