POCATELLO, ID–MAY 25, 2025–In a swift and commanding performance, M E Flying Cowgirl surged to victory on Sunday in the $13,500 Spring Classic Maiden Frolic Oaks (not black type) at Pocatello Downs.
The 300-yard dash for Quarter Horses aged three and up showcased the young filly's speed as she easily held off her rivals, stopping the clock in 15.396 seconds with a 105 speed index over a fast track.
M E Flying Cowgirl filly broke alertly and quickly found her stride, powering down the stretch to win by 1 1/4 over post-time favorite Ruby Dash. The victory earned her a winner’s check of $6,345 and paid $9.40 to win on a $2.00 wager.
The 3-year-old sorrel filly by Flying Cowboy 123 broke her maiden under jockey Eric Ayala, and the victory boosted her earnings to $9,356 from her third career start. Bred in Idaho by David Merritt and Kim Newman, M E Flying Cowgirl is out of Ettago This by Favorite Cartel
Finishing in second was Ruby Dash under jockey Jaime Lopez. Adrian Gallegos trains the 5-year-old brown mare by Bp Wagon Train.
Bred in Oregon by Victor Chavez, Ruby Dash is out of the Thoroughbred mare Lady’s Purse by Bagshot. Owned by Alfredo Gutierrez, she has yet to break her maiden from seven starts.
Another 1 1/2-lengths behind came the third-place finisher, Paint Me Mo Famous, a 3-year-old filly by Paint Me Perry. Out of Mo Famous Advice by Best Advice, she was bred in Idaho by Cameron and Leanne Mulrony. She races for owner Eduardo Robles and is trained by Ramiro Fregoso, with Oscar Villa handling the reins.
Wonderin Star, Ms Louisiana Stones, Jj Easter Bug, Shes Good Luck and Gw The Cartel Chick round out the order of finish.
