OKLAHOMA CITY OK–APRIL 17, 2025–Jockey Juan Pulido set the racetrack on fire Friday night, becoming the first rider of the meet to win four races in one night, including one allowance event. He performed his feat with only six mounts on the program.
Pulido concluded his amazing evening with a win in the 10th race aboard Oh So Danjerous under allowance conditions for trainer Josue Garcia. It was the second win of the night for Garcia, using the services of Pulido. The jock also won for trainers Sam Mendoza and Cristian Alcala.
Pulido’s four-bagger moved him from nine wins behind leading rider Francisco Calderon to only five back as Calderon was shut out Friday night. The leading rider came into the evening with 25 wins on the season but he now has a shadow following him as Pulido moved up to 20 trips to the winner’s circle.
Pulido’s allowance win came under conditions of non-winners of two lifetime for 3-year-old fillies, going 350 yards. He popped Oh So Danjerous out of the gate on top and never was headed as he hit the wire in :17.344 seconds over a fast racing surface.
That was good enough for a speed index of 98 and he was a full length ahead of runner-up Spicy Cowgirl (2-1 betting favorite). Oh So Danjerous was sent off as the 5-2 second betting choice and paid $7 to win, $3.80 to place and $3.20 to show.
Oh So Danjerous, an Oklahoma-bred filly, is now undefeated after only two career starts, both this season at Remington Park. She is owned by Taos River Ranch of Purcell, Okla., and was bred by Arden Sue Floyd Family Trust. After winning both tries in her career, she has won $25,290 with $13,425 of that coming from Friday’s purse winnings.
Oh So Danjerous, a daughter of Corona Cartel, from the Favorite Cartel mare Danjerous, broke her maiden in her first start at Remington Park on March 21, winning by a half-length. Pulido rode her that night at 330 yards. She stretched out to 350 Friday and did it well.
Pulido’s big night didn’t start until the fourth race when he outlasted a bunch of claimers, aboard MT Equalizer, winning by a neck at 4-1 odds, paying $10.20 to win. He beat 9-5 favorite One Fabulous Miracle to the wire and earned a 91 speed-index, covering 330 yards in :16.742 for Mendoza.
MT Equalizer is a 4-year-old gelded Oklahoma-bred son of The Marfa Lights, out of the mare MT Rob This Corona (Paint), who is by The Corona. The trainer owns her with Elizabeth Mendoza of Garden City, KS. She was bred by Makynzie Brown and Robbin Caldwell.
Pulido’s second win on Friday came immediately in the next race when he was in the saddle of Cartels Favorite, the first of two Garcia winners. Again, Pulido just got the horse up on the last jump by a neck.
This 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred colt by Industrious, from the Strawflyin Buds mare Ms Bunny Budz, won for the second time in a row and has never been worse than third in four career starts for owner Christopher Tovar of Wichita Falls, Texas. Cartels Favorite was the wagering favorite at 8-5 odds ($5.40 to win) in the claiming race for non-winners of two lifetime.
Pulido was not finished. En fuego was his middle name on this night as he booted home the winner of the eighth race – Sunday Sylence. That 5-year-old Louisiana-bred American Quarter Horse mare was Alcala’s trainee winner on the night, getting home by a half-length in allowance company, traveling 400 yards.
Owned by Alcala Ranch of Jones, Oklahoma, it was Sunday Sylence’s fourth win in only 14 starts. She was sent off as the 4-1 second favorite ($10.60) and beat the top betting choice – Hes a Jet One who was at 6-5 odds.
Live racing continues Saturday, April 19 with first post time of 6pm-Central for a card chock full of stakes races, including the headliner, the $868,455 Remington Park Futurity for 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred Quarter Horses.
