GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 18, 2019—Finito Dash, a 3-year-old son of champion/champion sire Tempting Dash, broke his maiden Friday at Lone Star Park in a track record setting performance while posting an impressive 3-¾ length win in the fifth race.

Under jockey Jose Martinez the brown gelding broke sharply then widened with every jump as he cruised over the 220 yards down the center of the racetrack in a quick :11.706 seconds, earning a 111 speed index into a 7 mph crosswind.

The previous track record lf :17.729 seconds was established November 9, 2012 by Sparrow Contender.

A Texas homebred racing for owner-breeder Thomas Villarreal, Jr., Finito Dash is out of the Special Leader mare Leading Chickie. Angel Sanchez conditions the 3-year-old who has compiled a (6) 1-0-1 record. Winless in five previous starts, he was a finalist in the Adequan Retama Park Derby Challenge in August.

Finito Dash's win evoked visions of his sire Tempting Dash, who won all four his career starts at Lone Star Park by a combined 8-½ lengths, scoring victories in both the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) and the Dash For Cash Futurity(G1). The son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash was named the AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt of 2009.

A champion sire, Tempting Dash stands at Granada Farms near Wheelock, Texas.
