A Dream To Remember Wins Hobbs America Futurity, Jess Feature Me Quick Takes Derby

HOBBS, NM—OCTOBER 7, 2012—Zia Park hosted a bevy stakes races on Sunday's card including the Hobbs America Futurity, Derby and Dash. Champion Quarter Horse trainer Paul Jones swept both the futurity and derby.

Jones assistant, Lisa Saumell saddled A Dream To Remember to victory in the $299,843 Hobbs America Futurity(G2) for the partnership of R.D. Hubbard, Johnny Cope and Henry Southway. Under jockey G.R. Carter, Jr., the brown miss completed the 400 yards in :19.330 seconds. The $143,925 winner's purse booster her career total to more than $164,000.

Gerald Libersat bred the Corona Cartel filly form the multiple stakes winning Thoroughbred mare Hollowed Dreams, winner of 25 of 30 career starts while earning $740,144. The speed-happy Louisiana-bred female drew national attention when she won her first 16 starts.

In September A Dream To Remember finished third in the All American Juvenile Invitational at Ruidoso Downs. She has a 3-2-1 record in seven starts.

Whiteface Eagle, a filly by leading first crop sire One Famous Eagle, earned $47,975 after showing some late interest for owner Mexas Racing Team. Jamie Aldavaz, Jr., trains with Ramon Sanchez getting the riding assignment. Christine Huston bred the sorrel filly in Texas from the Truley First Class mare Sing And Pray.

KH Logax, Inc.'s homebred Fastpass Regard finished a half-length back in the show position. The Chicks Regard gelding doubled his earnings to $53,619 with the $23,738 show purse. Juan Gonzalez trains the sorrel out of Gambeleta Caine, by Raise Caine (TB). Jaime Leos was up.

Completing the field were Sashay Hot, Simpatico Vision, Ramblin Mountain, Le Viahn, My Mighty Same, Orions Shootin Star and Hombre de La Noche.

Hobbs America Derby

Ramon Sanchez rode Melissa Ann Miller's homebred Jess Featureme Quick to his first career stakes win in the $197,583 Grade 3 Hobbs America Derby at Zia Park Sunday afternoon.

The Feature Mr Jess gelding competed his task in :21.344 seconds, a 97 speed index. The $94,888 winner's purse swelled his career earnings total to $331,982.

Also saddled by Saumell for Paul Jones, Jess Featureme Quick came into the race off a successful summer at Ruidoso Downs where he finished third in the Grade 1 $2.2 million All American Derby in September. Jess Feature Me Quick is out of the Royal Quick Dash mare One Quick Cookie.

Tres Seis Nueve earned $31,630 for owner Valle Guadiana Corporation. Juan Gonzalez trains the Tres Seis colt out of Ya Ya Sisterhood, by Chicks Beduino. Jesse Levario had the riding assignment.

Jaime Dominguez owned-and-trained Feature Mr Who finished three-quarters back in the show position. The Feature Mr Jess gelding out of Whosleaving Corona, by Corona Cartel, earned $16,309 for the effort. He was ridding by Esgar Ramirez.

Completing the field were Dashing Spartacus, Vgc Moon Walk, Feature Mr Bojangles, Executive Brass, Rc Black Mamba, Lalia and Fittest.

Hobbs America Invitational Dash

Rawhide Creek closed well to defeat Obamano by half-a-length in the $40,340 Hobbs America Dash for 2-year-olds Sunday. The Ivory James filly completed the 400 yards in :19.512 seconds under jockey Freddie Martinez.

John Stinebaugh trains the brown miss for Dutch Masters III. Bred in Missouri by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale, Rawhide Creek picked up $24,000 for the effort, boosting her season total to just under $50,000. She is out of the Pritzi Dash mare Pritzi Too.

Obamano, an Oak Tree Special colt out of Red Tomacita, races for his breeder Don Apodaca. Saddled by Harvey Baeza and ridden by G.R. Carter, Jr., the brown colt earned $8,800.

One Quick Jess, a three-quarter sister to Hobbs America Derby(G3) winner Jess Featureme Quick finished a half-length back in the show position for owner/breeder Melissa Ann Miller. Also trained by Paul Jones the sorrel miss ridden by Jesse Levario earned $4,000.

Fabulous Ocean, Katana Regard, Jess Makin Waves, Bv Pretty Woman, Happy Corona, Blue Eyed Visions and Heavenly Six completed the field.
