BLACKFOOT, ID–SEPTEMBER 1, 2025–Edward Jamison’s homebred stable enjoyed a banner afternoon Monday at Blackfoot Downs as his two fillies swept the top spots in the $10,000 Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Derby (not black type).

Both trained by Glen Jamison and sired by Daguerre, Sheknowsshepunky and Sheknowsshesmokn finished one-two in the 350-yard feature. Sheknowsshepunky is out of Punky Red by Red (TB) and Sheknowsshesmokn is out of Smokn Mirrors by Jumpn.

It was Sheknowsshepunky who prevailed for her first career stakes victory, breaking first from the gates under Carlos Castruita and holding off her stablemate by a neck at the wire. The sorrel filly stopped the clock in 17.586 seconds, earning a 106 speed index and $5,500 for the win.

She has lit the board in 11 of 16 starts with four wins, three seconds, and four thirds, good for $19,776 in earnings. Earlier this season Sheknowsshepunky was a finalist in both the Five Livestock Company/Rod Mills Memorial Derby and the Idaho Cup Derby, and she finished third in the Oneida County Fair Derby.

Sheknowsshesmokn, piloted by Jesus Flores, settled for second after a late rally. The filly has been a steady rival to her barnmate all season, finishing second in the Five Livestock Company/Rod Mills Memorial Derby and third in the Idaho Cup Derby over Sheknowsshepunky, along with a fifth in the Oneida County Fair Derby. From 16 starts, she has three wins, six seconds, and four thirds with $26,539 earned.

Completing the trifecta was Good Bet, last year’s Idaho Bred Futurity winner at Blackfoot. The black gelding, trained by Mark Hanson for owners RTM Stables LLC and Bryon Goody, was three-quarters of a length behind the runner-up with Dakota Wood in the saddle.

Bred in Idaho by Bryon L. Goody, Good Bet is by The Louisiana Cartel and out of Mothers Favorite by Favorite Cartel. From 11 starts, he has three wins and five thirds with $20,881 earned, and he has also placed third in the Idaho Cup Futurity and Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational last year. He was fourth in this year’s Idaho Cup Derby.

Aint Shee Something, Js Jess One, and Raise Z Cash complete the order of finish.
