FREDERICKSBURG, TX— AUGUST 9, 2025—Skye Ryder posted the fastest time from five trials contested Saturday at Gillespie County Fairground to the $182,600 Gillespie County Fair Futurity, covering 350 yards in 17.739, a 92 speed index.
The daughter of champion sire One Famous Eagle out of Miss Aguilar by Tres Seis broke sharply in the third trial and held off Spott by a half-length under jockey Gilberto Linares.
Owned by Paola A. Torres and trained by Juan A. Hernandez, Skye Ryder was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox and was purchased for $25,000 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale. It was the second consecutive win in five starts for the filly, who has earned $16,307.
Second-fastest qualifier Spott also emerged from the third trial, finishing in 17.813. The gelded son of multiple stakes sire This Is An Eagle out of Sams First Girl by Truley First Class is owned by Catarino Terrazas and Jesus Verduzco, trained by Jose Sanchez, and ridden by Eddie Sanchez.
Spott was bred in Texas by Tommy and Johanna Bullard and sold for $20,000 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale.
The third-fastest time came in the opening trial of the day, where Jc Corona Connection clocked 17.855. The gelded son of champion sire Ivory James out of Cache Corona by Coronas Leaving You broke sharply. He won by daylight for owner Fabian Gutierrez and trainer Arturo Juarez Flores.
Nestor Duran was aboard the Louisiana-bred, who was purchased for $15,000 at the 2024 Heritage Place Yearling Sale from breeders Jim and Natalie Montgomery. He entered the race off a trial victory in his last start for the Old South Futurity.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will return for the 350-yard final on August 24, where they will vie for the winner’s share of the $182,600 purse.
