SHELBYVILLE, IN—AUGUST 9, 2025—Heza Hawkeye posted the fastest qualifying time from eight trials Saturday at Horseshoe Indianapolis to headline the field for the $230,111 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity [RG3].
The 350-yard final for 2-year-olds sired by participating stallions will be run on August 30.
Racing for R Chavez Racing, LLC, Heza Hawkeye dominated the eighth trial with a 2½-length victory under jockey and trainer German Rodriguez, stopping the clock in 17.752, a 93 speed index.
"The first time I rode him, I didn’t think he had that much speed, but every start he shows more and more," said Rodriguez. "He left there running today. He wasn’t playing around. When you get on the lead with him you have to hold on because you never know where he’s going. I think he needs competition on both sides of him to make him run straight. He may be running green right now, but he’s very classy and he’s starting to act like a professional."

Bred in Texas by Torres Buildings, the gray gelding is by multiple stakes sire Hawkeye and out of the Azoom mare Sheza Bugsy. He was a $8,500 purchase from the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale.
Heza Hawkeye raced to his third consecutive win in four starts this season. He entered the trials off his first stakes victory in the Heartland Futurity on July 19 and has earned $110,519.
Second-fastest qualifier Sydney Jack captured the fourth trial with a wire-to-wire performance in 17.903 for owners Gordon L., Jordan, and Gabi Timm. The Dulce Sin Tacha filly is out of Caldonia Rose, by First Down Dash, and was bred in Texas by Mary & Jack W. Evans Jr.
Trained by Tim Eggleston and ridden by Rolando Del Rio Pina, Sydney Jack was a $12,000 buy at the 2024 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale. He has compiled a (3) 1-2-0 record and banked $13,900.

Victory Beach, the third-fastest qualifier, prevailed in the sixth trial with a 1½-length win in 17.950. Owned by Phillip R. Harrison and trained by Tim Eggleston, the chestnut gelding was ridden by Rolando Del Rio Pina.
Bred in Indiana by Walter R “Dick” Harrison, Victory Beach is by the late leading Indiana sire Escondido Beach out of Ms Victorita, by Mighty Invictus. Making his second career start in the trials he broke his maiden.
The ten fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will return for the August 30 final, with the winner taking home the largest share of the $230,111 purse.
