Blowin In The Wind Scores First Stakes Victory In The $177,045 SpeedhorseQH Futurity

TULSA, OK—SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025—Blowin In The Wind returned to Fair Meadows on Saturday as the fastest qualifier and proved best again in the Grade 3 $177,045 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity final.

Battling into a 12-mph headwind, Blowin In The Wind dug in to hit the wire in 17.641 seconds, earning a 97 speed index and posting her first career stakes win.

Piloted by Juan Pulido, Blowin In The Wind earned $67,277, boosting her bankroll to $81,255 from five career starts. The 350-yard effort paid $4.00 to win on even odds.

The daughter of Kvn Corona is owned by Brant Barley and trained by Josue Garcia. She was bred in Oklahoma by Mary & Jack W Evans Jr out of Evans Express, by Tres Seis.

With Roman Cruz aboard, Whirlaway Ilexus ran with grit from the break, in a hard-fought effort for second. The daughter of Whirlaway Red is out of Ilexus Corona, by Coronas Prospect.

Bred in Oklahoma by Alberto and Rocio Portillo, she races for Yazmine Torres and is trained by Leonardo Reza. Whirlaway Ilexus added $30,098 to her earnings, bringing her total to $49,246 with a consistent record of 1-4-1 from six starts.

I Are A Cowgirl broke from the inside and kept pace behind the dueling leaders, running a determined third. Francisco Calderon was in the irons. Her third-place share of $19,475 pushed her earnings to $35,773 from a consistent four-start record, which includes two wins and two thirds.

I Are A Cowgirl is by Flying Cowboy 123, out of Black Veil, a daughter of Favorite Cartel. She was bred in Missouri by Barley & Sharp Farm, and like the winner, is campaigned by Brant Barley and trained by Josue Garcia.

The remaining order of finish was Fire N Speed, Dulce Valentine, Queen Sin Tacha, Midknight Ryder, Mary Janes Train, Coronas Fancy Wagon, and Emerald Bay.
