TULSA, OK—SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025—Jc The Hitman delivered another stakes-winning performance Friday evening at Fair Meadows, capturing the $17,500 Cherokee Nation Stakes for two-year-old Quarter Horses.
The 350-yard dash was contested over a fast track with a 13-mph headwind. Despite the wind, the juvenile gelding held his speed throughout to win by a head in 17.837 seconds, earning a 91 speed index.
Jc The Hitman was guided confidently by jockey Francisco Calderon and is trained by Josue Garcia. The son of Flying Cowboy 123 entered the gate as the heavy favorite at even money and proved up to task, lugging out slightly late but never relinquishing command.

Bred and owned by Jose Cervantes of Oklahoma, Jc The Hitman is out of Jc Storm, by Ivory James.
With Friday’s win, Jc The Hitman picked up $10,338 to boost his earnings to $81,893 from six starts, which includes a prior victory in the Grade 3 Easy Jet Stakes at Remington Park earlier this season.
Little Sure Shot gave a strong account of herself to finish second, just a head behind the winner. Also trained by Josue Garcia, the sorrel filly is owned and bred by Jon and Brant Barley of Missouri out of Sweet First Leader, by Sweet First Down.
Ridden by Juan Pulido, she chased gamely throughout the contest, finishing in 17.857 seconds with a 90 speed index. The daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 captured the Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes in her previous out and has earned $23,666 from four career starts.
Rounding out the trifecta was Tell Sashay Shes Hot, who held well on the rail to earn third despite not finding a strong closing punch. The daughter of Tell Cartel was bred in Oklahoma by Monty McNair out of Sashay Hot, by Walk Thru Fire.
Trainer Ramon Mendoza tightened the girth, and Edwin Escobedo was in the saddle for the third-place effort. The filly stopped the clock in 17.965 for her owner, Buckway Ranch LLC.
Tell Sashay Shes Hot boasts $27,221 in career earnings with one win from five starts. She placed third in the FL Lady Bug Stakes (G3) and fifth in the Remington Park Juvenile Stakes earlier this season.
The remainder of the field finished as follows: Coronados 123 was fourth, followed by Jf Requestingaflyby, Awd Shez My Hero, Jd Dashing Damsel, and Boaz Dynasty. Godz Speed and Jay W were scratched.
Editor's note: A photo of this race will be posted when it becomes available from the track photographer.
