CYPRESS, CA—OCTOBER 5, 2025—The just-completed 2025 Los Alamitos Equine Sale enjoyed across-the-board increases in gross, average, and median prices, highlighted by a $730,000 Favorite Cartel colt that topped the sale.
According to sales company officials, 154 of the 195 horses offered were sold for gross receipts of $7,021,700, an 18% increase over last year’s 138 head that brought $5,966,600. The average price rose 5% to $45,595, compared to $43,236 in 2024, while the median price climbed 11% to $23,000, up from $20,750 last year.
Rosenthal Ranch, LLC purchased the sale topper—Hip #151 Sixth Sense—for $730,000. The colt is a full brother to the Rosenthal’s champion Cyber Attack and Grade 1 winners Bomb Cyclone, Powerful Favorite, Runforyourlife, and Cyber Monday.
Consigned by Burns Ranch, the colt is by leading sire Favorite Cartel and out of Remember Me Rose by Corona Cartel, an AQHA Dam of Distinction and Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby winner.
AQHA Champion Breeder Bobby D. Cox paid $450,000 for the sale’s second-highest seller, Hip #186 AJ Wise Lady, a filly by leading sire Apollitical Jess. Consigned by Rancho El Cabresto, Inc., she is a full sister to champion 3-year-old filly A Political Lady and a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Kevins Wise Corona. She is out of the stakes-placed First Down Dash mare Another Wise Lady.
Sam Green went to $310,000 for a full sister to the sale topper, Sixth Sense, the third-highest seller. Also consigned by Burns Ranch, the bay filly is by Favorite Cartel and out of Remember Me Rose.
Gamaliel Garza led all buyers with two purchases totaling $882,000. Cathy Allred followed with two yearlings for $667,000, while Dunn Ranch signed six tickets totaling $347,000.
Burns Ranch was the leading consignor and/or agent, selling 62 head for gross receipts of $3,885,700. Edward C. Allred sold 26 head for $902,000, and R.R. Ransner, DVM, sold seven for $271,000.
Apollitical Jess was the leading sale sire (by average, with two or more sold) at $133,000 for two head. Favorite Cartel averaged $106,917 on 30 head, while Corona Cartel had two offspring average $77,500.
Among covering sires,
Seperate Interest led the way (by average, with two or more sold) with three in-foal mares averaging $12,667. Mpshinning followed closely with two averaging $12,250.
