GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–SEPTEMBER 12, 2025–Lone Star Park will host 10 trials on Saturday, September 13, to determine the finalists for the $450,000-est. Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity, contested at 400 yards for two-year-old Quarter Horses.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return for the final on Saturday, October 4. First post on Saturday’s program is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (CDT).
The spotlight in Race 4 falls on A Maverick (#2, 4-5), the morning-line favorite bred in Texas by Triple K Farms. A son of A Revenant out of the First Down Dash mare Down Some Gold, A Maverick races for Jose Martin Ramirez Garcia, is trained by Yasmine M. Medina, and will be piloted by Claudio P. Aguilar.
A $24,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate, the colt has flashed sharp speed in his four starts, including winning the $620,000 TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) in his last start, July 26. With a (6) 3-2-0 record he has banked $333,360.
Race 7 features two promising juveniles: Jess A Good Angel (#3, 8-5) and Ocho Rojo (#9, 9-5).
Jess A Good Angel, bred in Oklahoma by Cristian Leonardo Alcala, is by Jess Good Candy out of Sin Tachas Angel by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. The colt races for Marisol Alvarado, is conditioned by Leonardo Alcala, and will have Juan Pulido aboard. An earner of $148,221, he has already found the winner’s circle twice in three starts and was third in the Grade 1 $1.16 million Heritage Place Futurity in his last start.
Ocho Rojo, bred in California by Juan Humberto Moya, is a colt by Favorite Cartel out of Sizzling N Fast by Walk Thru Fire. He was a $135,000 Ruidoso Select Sale purchase for Florentino Leon and is trained by Oscar Constancio Jr. with Victor Urieta Jr. up. A finalist in the Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity and Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity earlier this year stamps him as a leading contender. He has earned $69,233.
In Race 8, Talias Cowboy (#8, 7-5), bred in Texas by Ted G. Abrams, looks to continue his rise. The undefeated Flying Cowboy 123 filly out of Panther Speed by Panther Mountain is campaigned by Triple One Ranch LLC, trained by Edith A. Mojica, and ridden by Bryan Candanosa. A $40,000 Heritage Place Sale purchase, Talias Cowboy has won four consecutive trial races at Remington Park, Ruidoso Downs, and Albuquerque.
Race 9 brings Ring a Ling Ding (#5, 8-5) into the spotlight. Bred in New Mexico by R. Armor and Helen Henderson, the gelding is by Pa Cha Ching out of Kiss On the Horizon by Kiss My Hocks. He races for Kenneth, Cherie, and Cade Wallin, is trained by Tony E. Sedillo, and will be guided by Juan Pulido. Consistent in three career starts and a finalist in the West Texas Futurity(G1) and Four Corners Futurity, he has shown enough class to warrant favoritism here. He has earned nearly $50,00.
In Race 10, Remarkable Cowgirl (#8, 8-5) enters as a filly with plenty of upside. Bred in Texas by her owners Felix Rodriguez and Sergio Holguin, the daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 out of Freighttrain Reba by Freighttrain B is trained by Angel Sanchez and ridden by Luis Flores-Garcia. She owns a trial win and was third in the Ruidoso QH Juvenile. She has banked $131,641 in five starts..
The final featured contender is Di Kvn Waven (#1, 6-5) in Race 11. A $24,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate, the Texas-bred filly is by Kvn Corona out of Waven Bye Piloto by Mr Piloto. She was bred by Jacobo Garza, races for Refugio Alvarado, is trained by Carlos Camarena, and will be ridden by Oliver Martinez. Winner of Grade 2 $347,000 Louisiana Downs Futurity and the $223,000 Sires' Cup Futurity(RG2) in his last start, he has stamped himself as one of the most formidable juveniles in the field.
Saturday’s 10 trial races will determine which youngsters advance to the October 4 final of the Dash For Cash Futurity, one of Lone Star Park’s most prestigious Quarter Horse events.
