Mayor Humdinger Heads Night Of PCQHRA Breeders Futurity Trials On Sunday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–AUGUST 22, 2025–Mike Casselman’s Mayor Humdinger, the winner of the Governor’s Cup Futurity in his most recent start, and Keith Nellesen’s Trident IOT, who took home the top prize in the John Deere California Juvenile Challenge, are among the 49 juveniles that will race in the trials to the Grade 2, $260,000 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity on Sunday night at Los Alamitos.

Seven trials are on tap starting with race number two with the horses with the 10 fastest time moving on to race in the final to be held here on Sunday, September 14. Mayor Humdinger kicks off the night of trials as the son of second-crop sire Mpshinning will headline the first 350-yard trial.

A winner in each of his last three starts, the Mike Casselman-bred, owned and trained juvenile has shown an ability to finish strongly and retains the services of Martin Arriaga, who piloted him for the first time in the Governor’s Cup final.

Mayor Humdinger will be in action in the opening trial against Ed Allred’s Go North, who had rough start and lost any chance to win his last outing, and Larry and Bobbie Rice’s Candy Eyed Suze.

The next trial is among the deepest, as it will feature a trio of Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity finalists in Fireworks Over Pary, who was second in the final, Beyond Repair, who had the fastest qualifying time for the Kindergarten, and Trident IOT, who was sixth in the Kindergarten before winning the John Deere California.

Race four, which is the third PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trial, will be headed by recent maiden winners Fancy Crystal owned by EG High Desert Farms and Rich Flex owned by The Quarter Company LLC.

One of the top names in action in the trials in Parsons Ranch’s The Lady Is A Vamp, who won her last start in tremendous form, crossing the wire 1 ¾ ahead of her closest pursuer. Trainer Paul Jones has called The Lady Is A Vamp the best juvenile he’s trained since champions Separate Fire and Foose.

Jones, Alexis Andrade and Thompson Racing’s Doodah Cartel, fourth in the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million two races back, and Steve Mickaelian and  Jesus Moya’s Cowboy Country 123 are two to watch in trial number five, in race six, while the undefeated fillies Walk When I Walk and Toby Sis put their perfect records on the line when they meet in the sixth trial, race number seven.

This will be Barry Woodhouse’s Walk When I Walk’s first start in a futurity trial, while Ed Allred’s Toby Sis returns after a nose victory in her Ed Burke Million trial.

The final trial will be headed by Kolleen Ledgerwood’s Fancy Upp, who ran third in the Governor’s Cup in her last start, while remaining a maiden after running either second or third in her four career outings. Cesar De Alba trains the Favorite Cartel filly out of the multiple stakes winner Up For It.
