12-Race Program, 8 Kindergarten Trials Head Saturday Night Card

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–APRIL 17, 2025–Eight futurity trials featuring 63 juveniles, including seven recent winners, make up what should be a memorable evening competition with 10 berths on the line for the Grade 2, $275,000 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Twelve races will be contested on the night with the Kindergarten trials commencing in race number five and continuing through race 12. With a dozen races on tap, the card will also feature three Pick Four wagers kicking off in races 1,5 and 9. The horses with the 10 fastest times in the 300-yard trials will advance to the Kindergarten final to be held here on Sunday, May 11. First post is 6:05 p.m.

The opening trial in race five will include Valentin Zamudio’s Beyond Repair, a gelding by Fly Thru The Fire, who won his debut by a half-length on March 29. The Zamudio-trainee defeated a field that included Trident Iot and AB Corona De Rey, a pair of rivals that figure prominently in other Kindergarten trials on Saturday night.

Other top runners in the opening dash include EG High Desert Farms’ Sentella Olimpia and Jose Luis Valdez’s Val Baby, both runner-ups in their respective debuts. EG High Desert Farms has a great history in the Kindergarten, winning finals with AQHA champion Hawkish and Dash To The End in 2003-04 and with  AQHA champion Walk Thru Crystal in 2015.

Eleazar Gonzalez’s Separatist Tornado was a winner in his debut outing on March 30 and will now look to make it two in row when leading the second trials, race six on Saturday. Trained by Sergio Morfin, the son of Seperate Interest posted a neck victory in his first start and will now take on Jaime Gomez’s AB Corona De Rey and Ky Luddington’s Dulcified, a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 futurity winner Party Politics.

Keith Nellesen’s Beuteeful is the marquee name on trials night. She won her debut by 1 ½ lengths while posting the meet’s fastest 220 yard time of :11.90 on March 29. The filly by Kvn Corona dazzled in her debut and now returns in the third trials, which is race seven.

Bobby and Catherine Simmons’ Wake Up Lil Suze was impressive in her maiden win, scoring by a length on April 5. The Paul Jones trainee will give jockey Henry Reynoso Lopez a leg up on the Favorite Cartel filly in the fourth trial, race number eight. Jones is a two-time winning trainer of the Kindergarten.

All eight competitors in the fifth trial, which is race nine, are maidens, but it does include Salvador Salazar and Ruesga Equine Ranch’s SR Koolkorona and Eleazar Gonzalez’s Shinning Favorite, both second place finishers in their racing debuts.

The sixth trial is the only trial with two winners facing off, as Dutch Masters III’s Billionaire Behavior and David Hinkins’ Blow Ur Whistle headline this group after enjoying a visit to the winner’s circle. Dutch Masters III have won the Kindergarten a record four times, while Jaime Gomez, who trains Billionaire Behavior, has won it a record eight times as a trainer, including four wins with Dutch Masters III.

Keith Nellesen’s previously mentioned Trident Iot will head the seventh trial division in race 11 following his second-place finish to Beyond Repair. J. Franciso Diaz’s Dontellmomma and Jose Luis Valdez’s Val Future are among the other top contenders. The final heat will be led by the Simmons’ Error Code, who won her debut effort by ¾ lengths to give Mental Error, his first winner as a sire.

This quality night of racing will also feature To Speight Her, the meet’s top distance horse right now, as he’ll be going after his fifth win in a row.
