Komandeaux Edges Dynastys Dash To Lead La Fiesta Futurity Qualifiers

Komandeaux prevailed in a dramatic nose decision over Dynastys Dash in the eighth of nine trials Friday at The Downs at Albuquerque to post the fastest qualifying time for the $350,000-est. La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity.

The 10 fastest 2-year-olds from Friday's 400-yard trials advanced to the October 18 final.

Komandeaux stopped the timer in :19.769 while defeating Dynastys Dash by a nose in trial eight. The Favorite Cartel gelding, ridden by Sergio Becerra, Jr. for trainer Omar Vargas, recorded the fastest time of the afternoon. Dynastys Dash's :19.772 clocking was the second-fastest overall. The chart listed an eight-mph crosswind for the trial.

Owned by Homero Hermilo Campa-Mireles, Komandeaux was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox. The brown gelding is by Favorite Cartel from Jessa Louisiana Zoom, by Jess Louisiana Blue. He was a $60,000 purchase at the 2025 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

The victory improved Komandeaux's record to two wins, one second and one third from five starts with earnings of $20,929. He entered Friday's trials off a fourth-place finish in the $100,000 Rainbow Juvenile.

Dynastys Dash earned the second-fastest qualifying time despite suffering the narrow defeat in trial eight. The FDD Dynasty gelding, ridden by Joseph Belloc, Jr. for trainer Rodolfo G. Valles, dueled with Komandeaux before missing by a nose.

Paul Blanchard owns Dynastys Dash, who was bred in New Mexico by Mike Abraham and Blanchard. He is out of Jess Fire Chick, by Jess A Chicks. The gelding has one win and two seconds from four starts and earnings of $9,500. His victory came earlier this season in a Ruidoso Futurity trial.

Mw Wishyouhadahero turned in the third-fastest qualifying time when he won the sixth trial in :19.811. Breaking sharply under jockey Christian Cardenas, the sorrel gelding finished strongly to defeat fourth-fastest qualifier Sephora 157 by a neck.

Rodolfo G. Valles trains Mw Wishyouhadahero for owner Rex Wells. Bred in Oklahoma by Larry K. Marcum and Nancy C. Wells, the gelding is by second crop sire B Cause Im A Hero from Wish You Had One To, by Stel Corona. He was a $47,000 purchase at the 2025 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

Mw Wishyouhadahero has compiled two wins and three seconds from six starts while earning $34,285.

The remaining qualifiers, in order of time, were Sephora 157 (:19.835), Metal Potion T (:19.853), My Golden Boy (:19.883), Tater Hill Senator (:19.921), No Vacancee (:19.940), Aint It Tempting (:19.946), and Flying Cowboys Candy (:19.956).

The $350,000-est. La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity for the 10 fastest qualifiers from Friday's nine trials will be contested Sunday, October 18, at The Downs at Albuquerque.
