THE AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE JOURNAL, JULY 13, 2011—The American Quarter Horse Association this week premieres the latest generation of its Q-Racing Video service, and has permanently dropped the monthly subscription fee, making the service available to the world free of charge.
Q-Racing Video is a website that allows users to watch unlimited live and replay racing from almost every American Quarter Horse track in the United States and Canada. Tracks that export an approved simulcast signal are included in the service.
The website’s interface has been rebuilt from the ground up and includes much broader functionality. Users can switch from track to track while watching live feeds or search though replay videos by date, track or horse. Each race’s full card is displayed on screen with detailed information in each horse’s entry.
With a single click, users can view all of a horse’s past starts and then watch the video replay of any of those races. Fans also have one-click access to a simplified past performance of each horse. Handicappers will have instant access to scratches, jockey changes and track conditions. The interface includes results and payouts of all replay races.
Q-Racing Video is designed for all horse racing fans, from newcomers to experienced players. Free handicapping and wagering guides are available, all written by professional handicappers. The service even integrates Night School, Horse Player NOW’s weekly online handicapping class.
Q-Racing Video will continue to grow and change in the coming weeks and months, but Jim Bret Campbell, AQHA’s senior director of marketing and publications, couldn’t be happier with the improvements that have been made so far.
“The difference between this new product and the old one is night and day,” Campbell said. “It looks better, it works better, it does more. We appreciate the support of Q-Racing’s subscribers these past few years. This couldn’t have happened without their loyal support and enthusiasm.”
“That fact that’s it’s now free is fantastic,” said AQHA’s Executive Director of Racing Trey Buck. “We’ll be able to get our industry out there for the whole world to see.”
Buck is eager to see fans use Q-Racing Video as both an educational and handicapping utility.
“This is a great tool for players, since it offers unlimited replays. The archives go back years, so you can review races much farther back in a horse’s career.”
Many track websites offer race replays for only a few days, but Q-Racing Video’s archives go back several years for most tracks. Each race’s replay video is available immediately after it is run.
“We’re also going to promote the service to as many casual fans as we can,” Buck said. “We wanted to make the site as user-friendly as possible, so people who don’t necessarily visit online wagering sites can easily navigate it. And we’re putting links to free wagering and handicapping guides on just about every page. Q-Racing Video is now as much about promoting the sport as it is about helping handicappers and horsemen.”
Fans can visit www.qracingvideo.com and click the “subscribe” button to create a free account. Q-Racing Video is not a gambling service; users may not wager in any way.
