SUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 11, 2010—Freda Draper's home-bred Cd Frontier Justice kicked off his 3-year-old campaign on Saturday with a track record setting performance at Sunland Park.
Sired by grade 3 winner Desirio, the gray gelding completed the 330 yards in a blistering :15.999 seconds to earn a career high speed index of 129. Winning by 1¼ lengths, he lowered the previous record set March 30th by Dun On Project by .021 seconds. Carl Draper trains with Larry Payne getting the riding assignment.
The time of :15.999, once verified by AQHA would also be a new world record for 330 yards. The current world record holder is Authorized Cash with a :16.175. AQHA is in the process of verifying both Dun On Project's March 10th race and Cd Frontier Justice's race before it will be made official.
In only two starts last year, Cd Frontier Justice broke his maiden in the Ruidoso Futurity trial by ½ length defeating eventual All American Futurity(G1) finalist Love Samba and stakes winner Chasin Savanna B. He then finished second in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) trials qualifying to the Rainbow Juvenile Invitational. He is 2-1-0 in three starts with earnings of $22,480.
Technically his sire Desirio is a second crop sire this season, but Cd Frontier Justice was one of two test foals born in 2007 by the son of Strawfly Special.
