Five Louisiana students were awarded $2,000 from the LQHBA to further their education.

VINTON, LOUISIANA-JULY 13, 2026–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) awarded five $2,000 scholarships to further the education of Louisiana students on Saturday, July 11, at Delta Downs.

The drawings took place on Louisiana Showcase Night, saluting accredited Louisiana-bred Quarter Horses in nine quality stakes, culminating with a thrilling victory by KJ Meduzza in the $602,705 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1).

Misty Coats, LQHBA Executive Director, Bruce Salard. LQHBA Executive Director Emeritus, Kirt Chaisson, LQHBA President, and several LQHBA Board of Directors members conducted the drawings in the winner’s circle, following the fifth race of the evening.

The winners were Collin Castille, Sulphur, LA; Ceyanna Brown, Cameron, LA; Brock Hubert, Vinton, LA; AnnaCale Harrison, Ragley, LA and Daniel Guillory, Ville Platte, LA.

While the primary goal of the LQHBA is breeding and racing in Louisiana, the association remains committed to supporting education for Louisiana students. Since its inception in 2001, the LQHBA scholarship program has awarded $1,000,000 to students seeking to attend a higher education institution.

"It was a wonderful night at Delta Downs with an enthusiastic crowd enjoying the races,” stated Coats. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of our winning students means a great deal to our association, and we wish each of them all the best in their academic pursuits.”
