Retama Park’s 2026 summer stakes lineup includes eight graded stakes highlighted by the Retama Park Derby and Grade 1 TQHA Sale Futurity.

SELMA, TX–FEBRUARY 25, 2026–Retama Park has unveiled its 2026 stakes schedule, outlining a full summer of premier Quarter Horse, Paint, and Appaloosa racing.

The schedule delivers a strong summer lineup highlighted by ten graded stakes and two major Quarter Horse futurity weekends.

The marquee Quarter Horse weekend comes July 24, featuring the $60,000 added TQHA Classic Stakes-G2, $50,000 Benny Pennington Memorial Stakes-G2, and $50,000 TQHA 550 Stakes-G3.

On July 25, the highlight will be the $200,000-added TQHA Sale Futurity-G1, accompanied by the $100,000-added Retama Park Derby and the $50,000-added TQHA Sale Juvenile.

The season closes strong on August 22 with the $ 75,000-added Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG2 and the $ 50,000-added Sires’ Cup Derby-RG3.

The schedule also showcases many major Paint and Appaloosa features and other stakes events, reinforcing Retama Park’s continued commitment to a competitive racing program.

In addition the nomination form for the $100,000-added Retama Park Derby is now available, with the first payment due April 10, 2026. The 400-yard event is open to Quarter Horse foals of 2023.

Trials are scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, with the final set for Saturday, July 25, 2026. Based on total nominations, Retama Park may conduct trials over two days at its discretion. Horsemen are advised to consult the official condition book for additional details.

Nominations are due April 10, 2026, with a fee of $250. The sustaining schedule includes $400 due May 8 and $500 due June 5. A $1,200 entry fee to the trials is due June 26 and must be in the racing office or in the horsemen’s account prior to the close of entries.
