ALEXANDRIA, LA–FEBRUARY 6, 2026– Louisiana Quarter Horse owners and trainers are reminded of several important payment deadlines for February and early March 2026, including sustaining payments tied to the Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) and LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) programs.
The next key deadline is February 16, when the second payment for the 2026 Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) is due in the amount of $250. All 2025 foals must be registered with the American Quarter Horse Association and have parentage verification completed in order to remain eligible. Failure to complete AQHA registration and verification requirements may jeopardize eligibility.
The 2026 Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) will be contested at 400 yards with $200,000 added and an estimated purse of $1 million. The race is restricted to Accredited Louisiana-Bred Quarter Horse foals of 2024 that qualify for AQHA registration. Following the February deadline, sustaining payments include $500 due March 16 and $500 due June 15, followed by a $1,000 trial entry fee due at time of entry. Total payments for the futurity amount to $2,850.
Attention then turns to March 2, when the second sustaining payment for the 2026 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) becomes due. That payment is set at $500 and must be postmarked on or before the due date. Payments should be mailed directly to the LQHBA office, and horsemen are encouraged to use certified or trackable mail. Credit card payments are accepted using Visa or Mastercard and are subject to a processing fee.
The 2026 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) will be run at 350 yards with $200,000 added and an estimated gross purse of $650,000. Trials are scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, with the final to be contested on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Eligibility is limited to Accredited Louisiana-Bred foals of 2024 that passed through the 2025 LQHBA Yearling Sale and are fully paid up and eligible for the 2026 Louisiana Million Futurity. Additional sustaining payments include $500 due May 1 and $500 due July 1, along with a $500 trial entry fee, bringing total payments to $2,300, excluding any late or supplemental fees.
Louisiana Downs will host schooling races on February 13 and 14, followed by the Louisiana Downs Maiden Classic on February 24. Horsemen planning to participate in these races are encouraged to ensure all paperwork, eligibility requirements, and payments are completed well in advance of entry deadlines.
