By StallioneSearch

SUNLAND PARK, NM–JANUARY 30, 2026– According to the official Facebook page of Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino, live racing scheduled for Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31, 2026, has been canceled due to current track conditions. Track officials indicated that an additional update will be provided on Sunday once further evaluation has taken place.

In follow-up comments, Sunland Park clarified that live racing is canceled, while training activity will continue, noting that the track is not closing entirely. Officials cited unusual weather conditions, including heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday followed by snow expected Sunday morning, contributing to unsafe racing conditions.

Three Quarter Horse stakes races were scheduled to be held on Saturday, January 31, including the $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park (G1), $60,000 Lonnie and Candy Elam Memorial, and the $186,490 Shue Fly Stakes (G2).

This remains a developing situation, and StallioneSearch will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
