ALEXANDRIA, LA–SEPTEMBER 5, 2025–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) has announced the implementation of a new "LQHBA Hair Test Policy" following approval by its Board of Directors on July 7, 2025.  The Louisiana State Racing Commission has approved the Revised Hair Test Policy, Effective October 01, 2025.

Effective October 1, 2025, any horse testing positive for prohibited substances via hair testing will be ineligible for retesting for 120 days from the date of the positive result. Hair tests conducted by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association (OQHRA) before the 120-day period will not be accepted.
