EDMOND, OK–AUGUST 29, 2025–The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association is excited to announce the creation of the Will Rogers Oaks, a brand-new race for three-year-old fillies, set to debut at Will Rogers Downs in October 2026.
This new race comes in response to the great success of the Black Gold Fillies Futurity, which has quickly become a fall tradition for two-year-olds. The Will Rogers Oaks will give horsemen an additional stakes opportunity for their fillies before the end of their three-year-old season.
Although, the oaks is not tied to the Black Gold program, it will be open to all three-year-old fillies, making it a natural fit alongside the existing stakes schedule.
“Races like this are important because they help keep good mares in training,” said Krissy Bamberg, Executive Director of OQHRA. “We want owners to have a reason to continue their racing careers, and at the same time we’re supporting the breeding and racing of quality horses in Oklahoma. The Will Rogers Oaks is another piece of that commitment.”
With $50,000 added money, the race will feature nomination payments beginning in April 2026, along with several later nomination options to make it easier for owners to get involved.
The fall meet at Will Rogers Downs continues to grow into a strong option for owners and trainers, and OQHRA is proud to help add new opportunities to the schedule. The Will Rogers Oaks promises to become a highlight of the racing calendar in Oklahoma. Visit www.oqhra.com for details on this race and all the other great stakes opportunities in Oklahoma.
