OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 17, 2025–In conjunction with the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, Remington Park purses for overnight races for American Quarter Horses will be increased for the remainder of the season. This increase begins with tonight’s racing.
The Quarter Horses will receive a $1,000 increase for all overnight races; stakes races and trials are not included. The increase happens with a little more than half the season remaining. The Remington Park spring session concludes on May 31.
Additionally, another race date has been placed on the calendar as Remington Park will add a program on Wednesday, May 28. The extra race date helps make up for races lost by earlier cancellations. This date in May comes after adding Wednesday, April 23, to the calendar just a few days ago.
“We appreciate Remington Park’s decision to add additional race days following the earlier cancellations,” said Krissy Bamberg, executive director of the OQHRA. “This is an important step for our Quarter Horse program, which is currently behind on the total race count for the season.”
The increase in purses is always welcome for all involved.
“We're also encouraged by the purse increase, made possible by strong casino performance.” Bamberg continued. “This added support is a much-needed boost for our owners and trainers.”
The Paints and Appaloosas are not included in this purse increase, according to Bamberg. “Our Paints and Appaloosas remain on track with both race numbers and purse budgets. We’re looking forward to finishing the meet strong across all breeds.”
Remington Park racing resumes tonight through Saturday, April 17-19. Saturday, April 19, is Remington Park Futurity Night. The first nightly race is at 6 p.m. Central. There is no Remington Park racing on Easter.
