ALBUQUERQUE, NM–APRIL 8, 2025–The New Mexico Quarter Horse Breeders Association issued a reminder on Tuesday that sustaining payments for the New Mexico State Fair Futurity and Derby are due by April 15th.
The 2025 New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity is a 400-yard stakes race for two-year-old New Mexico-bred horses that have been nominated. The estimated purse for the Futurity finals is $1,200,000, in which the trials will take place on September 19th.
Similarly, the 2025 New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Derby is also a 400-yard stakes race but is for three-year-old New Mexico-bred horses that have been nominated. The estimated purse for the Derby finals is $500,000, and trials are scheduled for September 20th.
The finals for both races will be held at The Downs in Albuquerque on October 12th. A sustaining payment of $800 is required for each race, and this payment must be submitted by April 15th.
