Wyoming Gaming Commission approved requests by state operators to conduct 52 live race dates in Wyoming for 2023.

CASPER, WY–NOVEMBER 17, 2022–During the Wyoming Gaming Commission meeting held Wednesday (NOV 16) in Casper, Wyoming the Commissioners approved the request by state operators to conduct 52 live race dates in Wyoming for 2023, the second year in a row that Wyoming will offer almost five solid months of racing. 

As proposed in 2022, 307 Horse Racing, LLC will offer 16 live race days at Energy Downs in Gillette for calendar year 2023.  The race dates will be May 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 and June 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25.

Wyoming Downs will once again offer 20 race days, Saturdays and Sundays, starting June 3 and ending August 6.   .

Wyoming Horse Racing, LLC will run 16 days at Sweetwater Downs in Rock Springs including August 19, 20, 26, 27, September 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and October 1. 

Between the three Wyoming Live Meet Operators, live racing in 2022 was one for the record books, they were granted 52 race days, the longest racing season offered in Wyoming in decades.  The race schedule offered 464 races (104 State Bred) with 3,388 starters (1,573 State Bred) and over $3.6 million in total purses paid. 

Wyoming Downs had record breaking handle and attendance figures while both 307 Horse Racing and Wyoming Horse Racing ran stakes races at their meets with the total purse for the finals over $100,000.

The Wyoming Gaming Commissioners and staff are pleased with the positive impacts of the Horse Racing Industry in the Cowboy State, it promotes a diverse economy and creates hundreds of Wyoming jobs.  The growth of Live Horse Racing’s has had a vast economic effect not only for Wyoming breeders and horsemen but for the State of Wyoming as well as Wyoming municipalities.
