EVANSTON, WY–JUNE 14, 2022–Young adults and youth are invited to experience the excitement of horse racing at Wyoming Downs in Evanston, Wyoming, through a pair of special youth racing experiences.
Two events will be offered, one June 23-26 and the second July 8-10.
The first event, to be held June 23-26, is an internship course for college students. This experience varies depending on the individual’s interest and is customized to the individual, but provides valuable hands-on information.
The second event, on July 8-10, is open to youth ages 15 and over. This is a unique opportunity to plunge into the racing industry, learn more about it and have close access to racehorses and horsemen.
The activities include:
• Spending time with a race trainer to learn about the care and
conditioning of racehorses.
• Learning from race officials about their work and how racing operates,
including the test barn, saddling paddock, jockey’s room and tote
room.
• Attending live races with the opportunity to get a photo taken in the
winner’s circle.
Any young adults or youth interested in these opportunities can call Judy Horton at 307-331-0747 or email dashingly@wyoming.com for more information or to get the application.
