LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 17, 2012—Ed Burgart, the longtime track announcer at Southern California’s Los Alamitos Race Track, will serve as analyst and race caller on TVG’s coverage of next month’s All American Futurity and All American Derby from Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.

The All American Futurity, Quarter Horse Racing’s biggest and richest ($2.4 million) event, is scheduled for Labor Day (September 3). The All American Derby, an event for three-year-olds that will be contested the previous day, carries a purse of $2.3 million, the sport’s largest for horses aged three-and-up.

In addition to being part of TVG’s on-site announce crew, Burgart will also serve as track announcer for both races, a career first.

“As a result of our lengthy relationship with Los Alamitos we have worked closely with Ed for a long time so we are thrilled to welcome him to our on-air team,” said Tony Allevato, TVG executive vice president. “Ed is considered the voice of quarter horse racing and we are certain he will bring tremendous insight and excitement to the telecast of these signature events.”

“I am flattered that TVG has asked me to be part of their broadcast of these races,” said Burgart, who began calling races at Los Alamitos in 1981. “In our sport the All-American Futurity is the equivalent of the Kentucky Derby, so being able to call the race is a thrill of a lifetime.”
