VILLE PLATTE, LA—MARCH 7, 2022—From limited starters Majestic Cartel continues to sire runners. He has already gotten his first 2-year-old winner of 2022, as well as a qualifier on Saturday to the restricted Grade 2 $394,690 Mardi Gras Futurity at Louisiana Downs.

Owned by Butch Stevens and Jerry Deville, Majestic Cartel is a full brother to champion and multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel. The son of leading sire Corona Cartel was an $180,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate in 2012, but never started due to an injury.

From limited starters in five crops to reach the track Majestic Cartel has sired 24 winners, 5 black type, earners of over $660,000 with average earnings per starters of $14,421.

Jrs Majestic Baby, a filly out of the Special Crown Royal mare Ms Beach Baby, got 2022 off to great start on March 2nd when she broke her maiden at first asking in a $10,300 Accredited LA-Bred Maiden 2YO Fillies race at 220 yards. Trainer Van Haywood sent out of the bay filly for owner Mike Pedersen. Julien R. Stevens III is the breeder.

On Saturday (March 5th) Jrs Tonyas Majestic, a colt out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Tonyas Statement, qualified for the richest Mardi Gras Futurity in history.

Twenty-two trials were contested over two days at Louisiana Downs for the $394,690 restricted Grade 2 race.

Trainer Duke Shults conditions Jrs Tonyas Majestic for owners Longleaf Racing. Jeff Fulton and Julien Stevens III is the breeder. The 300 yard final will run back on March 20th with the winner earning $177,610.
