Trainer Sammy Valdivia set out the colt from the Teller Cartel mare Teller Baja, for owners Guerra Racing. Under jockey Cody Wainscott Teller Ima Eagle clocked :13.55 seconds into a 12 mph headwind, the fastest from 81 starters.

On February 8th This Is An Eagle got his first unofficial winner when Filly Gaga won her training race at Retama Park. From 54 starters the $9,700 TQHA Sale graduate posted the 14th fastest time of :14.12 seconds for 250 yards.
