Just No Doubt Breaks Maiden With Fastest Time To The Desert Classic Futurity

PHOENIX, AZ–APRIL 10, 2024–The first two races of the afternoon on Wednesday at Turf Paradise featured 17 two-year-old horses competing for a chance to run in the $45,000 added Desert Classic Futurity finals on May 1st.

The top two times to beat each came from the winners of each 300-yard trial. Just No Doubt, ridden by Jacob Enriquez qualified with the fastest time of :15.713 seconds clocking a 91 speed index.

Even with a light bump at the start, the son of Separate Interest flew first from the gate and held the lead to the wire winning by 1/2-length over Ruff An Rowdy. The victory paid $7.60 to win on 5/2 odds.

Conditioned by Rigoberto Guillen, Just No Doubt placed fourth in his maiden run on March 3rd and now has one win from two starts with $9,750 in the bank.

Breeder Steve D. Burns sold Just No Doubt for $37,000 in last year's Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The gray gelding out the Walk Thru Fire mare Just Walk By is currently owned by Jorge Herrera Ramos.

Second fastest qualifier Four Sweet Kid, with Alan Hernandez in the irons, went gate-to-wire to win his trial heat by an impressive 2 1/2-lengths. The son of One Sweet Jess clocked a 90 speed index in :15.737 seconds breaking maiden in his first career start.

Jose Mendoza Aguilar bred and owns Four Sweet Kid in Arizona. The sorrel gelding out of Loud Little Kid by Kiddy Up is trained by Diego Cervantes and has $9,000 in earnings after today's victory.

Matt Fales was the only trainer who qualified multiple horses to the finals with four total, including third fastest qualifier Ruff An Rowdy, piloted by Cerapio Figueroa.
