Jg Corona Virus Sets Fastest Mark In Ron Moosman Memorial Non-Winners Of Two Trials

OGDEN, UT–APRIL 7, 2024–Jg Corona Virus got his second career win on Sunday while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Ron Moosman Memorial Non-Winners of Two Stakes (not black type) at Weber Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Ogden, Utah racetrack on Sunday, April 21st to vie for the winner's share of a $32,663 purse going a distance of 330 yards.

Jg Corona Virus flew from the gate, under jockey Julio De La Torre, in the second of three trials to win by 1-3/4 lengths and post the fastest qualifying time of :16.806 seconds, a 95 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Trainer Jorge Estrada, Jr. conditions the 4-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Glock for owner-breeders Israel Juarez and Sixto Garcia.

Bred in Utah from the Separatist mare Tat Team USA, Jg Corona Virus has compiled an official record of (5) 2-2-0 record and banked $20,260.  Unraced at 3, he was second in the Elko Intermountain Futurity at 2 in 2022.

Docs Blazin Gal, under jockey Jesus Valenzuela, raced to a half-length win in the final trial to post the second fastest clocking of :16.823 seconds, also a 95 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Kylie Valenzuela trains the Wyoming homebred for owner-breeder Pedro Mena. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Docs Best Card is from the First Moonflash mare Blazin Mean. With two wins and one second in three starts the black filly has earned $15,056. She was second in the Hadley/Giles Futurity at 2.
