HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 26, 2023–Chicka Boom Babe was awarded the win in Sunday's $298,910 New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) at Zia Park after fastest qualifier and post time favorite Drest For Success was disqualified from first and placed fifth after drifting in the stretch from the inside rail and impeding eventual fourth-place finisher Jess Paid.

Chicka Boom Babe, under jockey Adrian Ramos, was only a head back at the wire while completing the 350 yards in :17.338 seconds, a 103 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. It was the fourth win in eight starts for the graded stakes winning daughter of multiple stakes sire Chicks Regard.

Wesley Giles trains the gray filly for owners Robert Driggers and Ben Ivey. Ivey Cattle Company bred Chicka Boom Babe in New Mexico from the First Moonflash mare Riverside Babe.

Chicka Boom Babe was a finalist in the Mountain Top QH Futurity(RG2) and the New Mexico Breeders' Futurity(RG3) earlier this year. She picked up $146,466 today to increase her earnings total to $174,308.

Miss Baby Cartel, a nose back under jockey Adrian Ramos, earned $50,815 after being moved to second. Ramon Mendoza trains the Big Daddy Cartel filly for owners Felix Rodriguez and Sergio Holguin. Jorge Nieto-Saenz rode the Elsa Sotelo bred out of Double Moon Baby by First Moonflash. The gray filly has earned $53,395 in five starts.

CHR Racing's Jumpn Runn earned $29,891 for third. Jesus Rondan, Jr., saddled the Kim Saunders bred son of Jumpn Chic from the Pie In The Sky mare Run N Pie. Second in the New Mexico State Fair Juvenile and fourth in the New Mexico Breeders' Futurity(RG3) earlier this year, Jumpn Runn used the $29,991 Classic payday to push his earnings total to $93,249.

Completing the official order of finish were Jess Paid, Drest For Success, Lil Newt, Big Posies, Kj Hardtookiss, Young Emperor and Mr Jess Effort.
